Early in his career, Tracy gained valuable experience assisting Richard Desmarais, a highly respected commercial photographer from Ottawa with over 40 years of experience. Richard’s client list includes huge corporations like Canada Post.

After working as an assistant, Tracy went on to collaborate with various well-established photographers who helped shape his career: William Reynolds, a Fine Arts instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University, accomplished painter and author of several books on photography; Keith Allen, a fine art photographer and former vice president of Clairol Canada who oversaw many photo shoots worldwide for Clairol; Howard Owen, an extremely successful commercial photographer, who at his busiest point, had a studio that covered over 30,000 square feet!

"One photographer in particular had a great influence on me," says Tracy.  "When I was just starting out in my career, I was fortunate enough to receive a hand-written letter from the famous portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh of Ottawa (click for his website), who photographed everyone from Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein and Ernest Hemingway, to Neil Armstrong, Queen Elizabeth II and President Bill Clinton. What a honor it was to have Mr. Karsh comment on my work.  His encouraging words were greatly appreciated."

Along with his work behind the camera, Tracy is well versed in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Capture One Pro, Apple computers and Epson professional-level printers.  He is adept at colour management techniques including CMYK. Although digital photography is now the norm, Tracy has considerable experience in traditional photo-chemical darkroom techniques, both in colour and in black & white. He is one of the few photographers who actually had an in-house colour darkroom!

Affable, reliable and adaptable to any situation, Tracy is respected for his versatility and attention to detail.
